I have been a baker all my life. From the time I could stand on a chair in the kitchen, I baked every chance I got. My family loved it that I had this baking obsession, because it meant a lot of homemade treats for them.
Bacteria in general blossom in acidic setting. Baking powder is highly alkaline. It can get rid of acne causing bacteria by neutralizing the acidity they require. In addition to killing bacteria baking soda helps to keep your skin pores open. Mixed with water it makes for an excellent exfoliant. It also helps to remove excess oil from your skin.
Another way of baking tilapia is the Hudson’s baked tilapia with dill sauce. To perform this baking method, you need four ounces of tilapia fillets, salt, pepper, one tablespoon of any seasoning powder, one lemon sliced thinly, a quarter cup of mayonnaise, half cup of sour cream, half a quarter teaspoon on garlic powder, one teaspoon of fresh lemon juice and two tablespoons of chopped fresh dill.
Of course if you are baking sans gluten, you have to add a substitute ingredient to hold things together. The best gluten substitute I know of is potato starch. Use about a tablespoon for each cup of gluten-free flour. Arrowroot starch is also a good alternative for baking and both of these starches are wonderful thickeners for sauces and soups.
Butter,margarine,shortening or oil. Butter traditionally is the choice for cakes. You can measure solid fats by covering them with cold water. For example, if your recipe calls for 1/2 cup fat, fill a measuring cup with 1/2 cup of water and add the fat until the water reaches 1 cup. Oil provides a more moist cake in many cases but be sure to use a vegetable oil. Margarine is usually whipped and contains more water and air so it may not always provide the best results, however, if using margarine you can usually use a stick variety. I suggest avoiding the kind in tubs.
Leavening – While there are some yeast leavened cakes,they are not that common so I will stick with baking powder and baking soda. Too much can cause your cake to fall or crumble or fall apart so follow the recipe carefully. If you omit one egg in a recipe increase the amount of baking powder by 1/2 teaspoon. If using baking soda you should use an acid such as buttermilk or cream using 1/2 baking soda for each cup.
It has a high temperature control. This type of oil has a high threshold for temperature. It can withstand the heat at which baking occurs so it is well suited for high temperatures. Many oils become unhealthy at high temperature but this oil remains consistent.
I highly recommend Baking for Today to all baking enthusiasts out there. If you are a beginner then this cookbook is a must for you. Seasoned bakers will also get some good things out of this book.
